Freeplane is a free and open-source brainstorming tool for Mac and Windows, which is similar to other previously reviewed applications such as XMind.
The biggest problem about Freeplane is the cluttered interface, which is boring and confusing. There are simply way too many buttons, the Danish translation included with the application is not finished, we could not resize the window and so on. That is a shame, because it looks Freeplane comes with a lot of interesting features, so we hope the developer will update and simplify the user interface in the future.
Overall, Freeplane comes with some great functionality, but unfortunately, we can not really recommend it to our users because of the cluttered interface. If you still want to try it, then we recommend you to read the included tutorial.
